It hadn’t been long since Edward and his family had slowly started moving back to Forks and already he had started to see just how much things had changed. The town itself didn’t seem that different but when it came to the inhabitants it was a different matter entirely. Edward had soon learned the awful truth about what had happened a year or so ago, the Quileute reservation had been bought and families that had been living there for generations had been forced to move on. Most had moved to Forks which had caused the town to have to expand a bit to accommodate them all but others had moved on to pastures new. Edward had heard a few different theories about who was behind it all but no one seemed to know for sure and that alone worried him. The Quileutes were proud people and he had never thought that one of them would sell the land right out from underneath the feet of the others. The only conclusion he had been able to come to was that the person responsible must have been made an offer that they just couldn’t turn down and that alone was enough to pique Edward’s interest. He hadn’t said anything to his family about what he planned to do that day but since the Quileute shapeshifters were probably now living in Forks he knew that the agreement they had come to such a long time ago that no vampire from his family would set foot on the reservation was null and void. He didn’t doubt that the rest of the treaty would continue to remain in force, the ties between his family and the Quileutes was even stronger than ever now through the tie between Jacob and Renesmee and the fact that the two of them had children of their own so he knew that the wolves wouldn’t try and do anything drastic. He couldn’t even begin to imagine what it must have been like for them to be run out of their homes like that but he knew that he needed to find out what had really happened and that was why he had decided to head down to La Push that day. Even as he drove through the reservation he couldn’t ignore the castle that had been built and a feeling of dread flooded through him. “It can’t be,” he breathed, knowing that style all too well. Without a second thought he found a place to park the car and brought it to a stop, getting out quickly with his gaze firmly fixed on the castle on the hill. He was pretty sure he knew now who was responsible he only hoped that he was wrong but either way he was determined to get answers. ALICE MARY CULLEN

It had been some time since they had been back home. Alice had not been disappointed to travel the world with Jasper, but coming back to Forks would always feel like home. So much had happened here, and so many memories were found here in the familiar walls of the Cullen Residence and the forest surrounding it. Alice believed no place else would ever feel like 'coming home' as much as returning to Forks did. She was a bit saddened by the fact that many of the humans who had lived in Forks that she had come to know had passed on. It was what always happened; mortality was inevitable for them, and it had once seemed so for the small pixie Cullen. She felt a twinge at the thought that Charlie, too, surely had passed on as well, though she hadn't been to explore the town yet to find out just what may have changed while the family was gone.
Alice had wanted to explore the outdoors, first. Knowing that it had been a long time since she especially had wandered their territory, and a walk through the woods seemed like a nice quiet thing to do, a chance to enjoy the quiet and peace that was often found in the forest. Maybe, she could even walk the Quileute border, just to see how things were. It occurred to her, as she wandered through the trees that there was little atmospheric noise, i.e. birds, wildlife. Strange.. It was as she paused at the edge of the rocks by the waterfall that she caught a flash of vision, from Edward. He too, it seemed, had had a similar idea, though he had chosen to drive. And then she was struck by the image of a castle on a hill..chillingly similar to someplace she had seen before. She knew only one thing: she had to get to Edward now.
Taking off through the trees, Alice focused on where Edward's decisions were going to lead, and used the surroundings to guide her speeding pace in his direction. She knew that once she was close enough he would pick up on her thoughts, so she thought with all her being for him to wait, she was coming, she needed to see for herself what exactly had happened to the Quileute Reservation. How could she not have seen this? Though it made sense that she might not have seen the Quileute decisions, due to the 'blind spots' in her vision, but surely, if the Volturi had made the decision she would have seen it. Unless...someone else had been the active decider for this enormous change. Finding Edward, Alice caught up with him, her steps now even and her outward composure calm and normal pixie-like attitude; though she knew that Edward would be able to sense the whirlwind of questions and thoughts tumbling around in her head.
Lightly dusting off her clothes, she hummed thoughtfully and smiled at Edward before speaking.
"Well, looks like someone decided they needed to be closer to keep an eye on things, hm? Not very subtle, is it?"
Her comment about subtlety was directed toward the castle that was quite plainly and obviously situated on the hill so no-one could miss it. Her golden eyes sought her brother's, wondering what their next move was. You're my Forever template by Sammy @ Adox 2.0

When Edward had moved to Forks with his family over a hundred years ago things had been very different to the way they were now. Back then he had been the only single one in the family and while his brothers had often teased him about finding someone he had never actually believed that he would. While they were living with the Denalis Tanya had taken a liking to him and despite his best efforts to ignore her advances she certainly hadn’t made it easy for him. A part of him had thought that perhaps he should just give in and see what might happen between them but at the end of the day he hadn’t felt the way he had thought that he would when he finally found his mate so he had been relieved when the family had decided to leave Alaska. It was only when he met Bella that he had learned what the rest of his family were talking about when they explained what it was like to find the one they were meant to be with and the truth was that he hadn’t looked back since. He and Bella had had their ups and downs but they had managed to get through everything that life had thrown their way. He wouldn’t have blamed her if she had chosen Jacob instead but she hadn’t, she wanted to be with him and he wanted to be with her. He would have been content to stay with Bella for her whole human life but she’d had other plans and while he had been against it at first he couldn’t deny that it was incredible being able to spend an eternity with the woman he loved. She had not just loved him when he had felt undeserving of her love but she had given him something that he had never thought possible, a daughter. He still saw Renesmee as a blessing even now although it had to be said that there were still times even now when he found it a little strange to think that he was not just a father but a grandfather as well. The dream of having a family of his own was something he had left behind the moment he woke up as a vampire but Bella had given that to him and he knew that he would never be able to thank her enough for it. Now they were all back in Forks and Edward knew that he needed to get to know the area once again. He had quickly learned that the Quileutes were no longer living on the reservation and he had needed to know why. As he pulled into the parking lot and caught sight of the castle the pieces started to fall into place and he was about to do a little more exploring when he heard his name in someone’s thoughts and he knew instantly who it was. “Alice,” he breathed, unable to stop a smile from forming on his face as he turned in the direction he knew that she would be coming from. He hadn’t seen her for a while, for too long it felt like, but if there was one person he would want by his side while he explored the reservation then it was her. Soon enough his sister emerged from the trees and Edward pulled her into a quick hug even as he tried to pick his way through the mess of thoughts in her head. “It is so good to see you,” he admitted as he let her go. As she spoke he lifted his gaze to the castle once more before turning back to Alice. “It isn’t subtle at all, I’m surprised neither of us knew this was coming,” he admitted. “The fact that they are here can only mean trouble. Are you up for taking a look around so we can assess the damage and see what we can find out?”ALICE MARY CULLEN

Alice was relieved Edward had heard her and had waited for her. In fact, he had pulled her into a hug and Alice in turn had wrapped her arms around him too, glad to see her brother once more and she almost didn't want to let go. She knew he could probably hear the mess of thoughts in her head and while she tried to tone it down, she knew he would be one person who would understand; the two of them were understanding of each other, knowing that the other sibling bore a similar burden in the fact that neither one of them could really 'turn off' their gifts; mental abilities like theirs were unquestionably useful, but also could be overwhelming. Alice felt a special bond with her brother in that regard. He alone could empathize with her. Finally letting go as he did, Alice smiled up at Edward, and though they had been apart for some time, he hadn't seemed to change much. Physically, anyhow. But he seemed happier, much more positive and less as weighed down as Alice had seen him in past years. She was glad he had found a life, and surprising them all, family, with Bella. The two were made for each other; soulmates, Alice might even say. It was clear that they had been meant to have a destiny together, and thankfully fortune and fate had finally smiled on them.
Alice nodded to Edward's question of exploring this newfound spectacle, and her golden eyes turned toward the castle that she did not yet know but even the sight of it set a dread in her soul and mind. She still clearly recalled the encounter in Volterra so many years ago when she and Edward, with Bella, had been 'invited' to an audience with the Volturi leaders. Having not seen such an event occurring, Alice had known, as she knew Edward had known too, that they had no choice but to stand before the Volturi..particularly Aro. Alice still recalled his grasping touch as he held her hand in his, so possessively. And again, in the snowy field where the family and friends had gathered together as witnesses to protect the Cullens and their newest member, Alice's niece Renesmee, Bella and Edward's daughter, by biological (thought impossible) conception and brought to the world while Bella was still human. Ever since the fateful gathering Alice had tried to forget, to leave behind the feeling that Aro was not through with them..but she couldn't.
Taking a few graceful steps forward, Alice looked to her brother, knowing that he, too, knew what Aro wanted; it was plain as day to her and Edward, and the fact that the Volturi had descended quite swiftly to mete out a punishment that was warranted on hearsay rather than fact had made it clearer to some others that there were those who wished to eliminate the Cullen Coven and anyone who stood with them is given a single excuse. Alice's eyes were serious as she walked beside Edward, her gaze missing nothing despite her mental distraction.
"It's not by chance that we have a Volterra Castle replica here. They chose this, specifically. I just hope those who used to live here were allowed to leave peacefully. I couldn't imagine finding out that someone just sold their home right out from under them, and to the 'worst of the worst', in my opinion. We should find out who sold it, and why. I also have a feeling this might make things tense between our kind and the Quileutes, considering it was people of our kind that took their home."
She hoped that she was wrong, that the tribe would not hold a grudge, but it was hard to tell, especially with Shifters. She couldn't see their choices or their paths, a usual blind spot when dealing with the species. But she couldn't say she would blame them if they did feel upset. For a long time Edward had felt like the odd one out in the family. He had always known that he would have a place with Carlisle but as Esme, Rosalie and Emmett joined them it had made it hit home that much harder that he was different to all of them. Edward had never asked for the gift that he had been given when he became a vampire, he had always been good at reading people even when he was human but he had never thought that it would turn into something else entirely. Being able to read minds was both a blessing and a curse, when he had decided to rebel against Carlisle and Esme he had used his gift to target and feed on only those people he knew to be bad but in the end he had realised that by only targeting those people that didn’t make him any less bad. He hadn’t given them the chance to change their ways and he knew that he could never give back the lives that he had taken but he knew that he could at least learn from those mistakes and make sure that he never repeated them. It was only when Alice joined the family that he had found a kindred spirit, someone with a gift like his that couldn’t always be controlled. The two of them had always had a special bond because of that and that was still true even now. He loved all of his family but Alice was the one he could always count on to understand what was going on with him so to say that it was good to see her would be an understatement. For a long time he had envied the relationship that she and Jasper had, the two of them were made for each other but he had finally found his own soulmate in Bella and Alice had gained a best friend so even though it had taken him a long time to find someone he knew that things had worked out exactly the way they were supposed to. One thing that hadn’t worked out as it was supposed to, however, was the fact that the Volturi had seemingly taken over the Quileute reservation. His family didn’t exactly have the best track record with the Volturi, he had gone to them when he thought that Bella was dead and pleaded with them to take his life but they had refused. It had been clear to him straight away that the reason for their refusal was because Aro had wanted him to join the Guard so that he could make use of his gift so Edward had sought to take matters into his own hands, instead opting to expose himself to a crowd of humans so that Aro would have no choice but to kill him. Thankfully Bella and Alice had intervened but since then it had been like they were skating on very thin ice. Alice’s gift made her a target as well and Edward knew that Aro’s plan when the Volturi arrived in Forks following the misunderstanding about Renesmee was to kill everyone else and keep only those who were valuable to him, Edward and Alice included. Since then things had been pretty quiet but now he couldn’t help but wonder if perhaps this was Aro’s way of making another move to get them to join him. Either way he knew that they needed to get to the bottom of it and he was glad that he had Alice by his side while he took a look around. Edward’s eyes were locked on the castle as Alice spoke and he found himself nodding. “Leah told me she checked in with the Quileutes, a lot of them have taken up residence in Forks,” he explained. He wasn’t sure whether they had put up a fight or instead decided to bide their time and take back their land at a later date but either way a lot of them were safe from what he had been told and for that he was grateful. “You’re right, we’re going to have to tread a lot more carefully this time around,” he nodded. “I took a walk around town the other day and there seemed to be a lot of mixed thoughts but it seems that one of their own did this although I don’t know whether they did it for money or whether there was more to it than that,” he explained. “Have you been able to pick up on Aro’s plans lately?” he asked, curious as to whether Alice would be able to see anything if she tried focusing on him. It was certainly concerning, having what looked for all intents and purposes to be a new living establishment for the Volturi, and Alice wondered just how many of them would come to reside in the castle. Would it merely be akin to a 'summer home' setup, as she had observed many humans had more than one dwelling; she presumed it could be something of that nature, but she could not be sure. Her golden gaze rested upon the veritable fortress, absorbed by her thoughts about this development; if the Volturi truly did move here, and stayed, how long could her family, and those humans (among others) of the town that went unsuspecting of anything extraordinary, remain untouched, undisturbed. For it was not long ago (in vampire time) that her whole family, both wolfpacks, and family friends had stood to face the Volturi. Alice could still see the white field covered in its crisp blanket of snow, the vision that had come to her as they faced Aro, one she had shown him in an effort to convince him that the current path was not right, and would not end well should they truly seek to destroy those who had gathered.
Alice smiled a bit, guessing her brother's thoughts as they stood together. There was a special, unspoken bond of understanding between them that almost nobody else could match; almost. Her husband and greatest Love Jasper was really the only other person Alice felt understood the weight she and Edward carried with their gifts. He, too, had had difficulty with the feelings of those around him, particularly humans, during his early immortal years. Alice felt that the three could really empathize with each other, and that was something no words would ever properly communicate Alice's gratitude and sense of companionship. She absently wondered if Edward ran along this line of thinking, too.
Her gaze moved to Edward as he spoke of Leah, and a soft smile took shape on the pixie's face as she listened. Leah had been an interesting one to see around, as the young woman had been, supposedly, the first of female Shifters. Back then, Alice had guessed, by the last name, that perhaps Leah and her younger brother Seth had changed due to Harry Clearwater's death. She had wondered what had happened to the two since the events of the Volturi's visit. Now she knew about Leah...but what about Seth? She continued to listen as Edward explained that one of the Quileute had been the culprit of the reservation being sold off, and her eyes widened. Not only was the land that was presumably important to the Quileute handed over to 'bloodsuckers', but it was done by one of their own people.
"That must have been quite the surprise, learning that one of the Quileute, one of their own, was the perpetrator of what I can assume was a huge betrayal for them..."
She frowned slightly, her gaze direct but not focused, as she tried yet again to seek out what Edward was asking. After a moment, she shook her head, a hand running over her hair.
"No..I didn't even see this happen. All I've seen is pretty much glimpses of day-to-day; you know, in Volterra. I think he's being very careful, again." You're my Forever template by Sammy @ Adox 2.0

Edward didn’t know what the Volturi were planning but the truth was that he was glad that Alice was there to look into it with him. Before she and Jasper had found them Edward had felt like somewhat of an outcast among his family. He had been Carlisle’s first companion and he still thought of Carlisle as one of his closest friends now but none of them had developed gifts like his after they were turned and for a long time he had felt like somewhat of a freak. It had been difficult at first especially when he had been learning how to control his ability but having Alice and Jasper around had helped immensely and he had ended up growing closer to Alice especially. It made things a lot easier when she was able to share her visions with him directly rather than having to explain what she was seeing and it had certainly come in handy with everything they had gone through with the Volturi. Now he wasn’t sure if she would end up being able to see something that might give them an insight into what Aro and the others were planning now that they were so close to Forks but even if she wasn’t able to he knew that he wasn’t going to pass up the opportunity to hang out with her and do some digging the old fashioned way. “It was a massive betrayal for them. This land belonged to their tribe for generations before we met with Ephraim Black and agreed the Treaty and even though the shifters are our friends now I don’t think they ever would have wanted to sell that land to anyone, let alone the Volturi,” Edward admitted. He couldn’t really blame them, the reservation was their heritage and it was their connection to their ancestors and now that was in the hands of the Volturi. He knew that it was likely as close to a nightmare for them as it could get but he wasn’t sure if there would be anything they could do to return the land to its rightful owners. If there was then he knew that they would figure it out sooner or later though. As Alice spoke again, Edward found himself nodding. “That makes sense. Aro knows of our gifts and he is probably using others to make the decisions for him just like Victoria did,” he said thoughtfully. “It looks like we’re just going to have to take a look around ourselves then. Are you up for it?”ALICE MARY CULLEN

She frowned as Edward talked about what had happened to the Quileute tribe, and she agreed. It was a terrible betrayal of their customs, their beliefs, their whole way of life. It was a horrible uprooting and destruction of everything the tribe had lived through and their history, their traditions. She disliked everything about what this meant, especially since the obvious move was made by the Volturi. Even though her visions hadn't shown her their moves directly, it was a fair bet that they were behind the whole mess.. who knew what else they were planning. The Volturi's current plan was only too blatantly obvious; who could miss the castle that now stood on this land. It would be laughable, if the situation wasn't so serious.
Alice exhaled softly, golden eyes taking in everything, and she looked to her brother when he mentioned Aro's carefulness about avoiding detection by their known gifts, and a smile formed on her face at the mention of going in, and his query of her being up for it. It was nice to have him back, someone who understood her as much as she understood him. They were a good team when it came to working together.
"Me? Oh I don't know... Kidding! Let's do this..see just what they're up to."
